Diese Geschichte des der 42. Regenbogen Division besteht aus den Aufzeichnungen des Lt. Hugh C. Daly, der in der Division diente. Die 42. Rainbow Division gehörte zu den US-Streitkräften, die im April 1945 die Stadt Fürth vom Nationalsozialismus befreiten. Zuvor war die Division über den Rhein getreten und hatte schon die Stadt Würzburg eingenommen. Nach der Besetzung der Stadt Fürth zog die Division weiter Richtung Osten und war Teil der Befreiungsarmee in Nürnberg. Danach zog die Division weiter über Donauwörth, befreite das KZ Dachau und kam schließlich nach München, Kitzbühel, Innsbruck und Salzburg. Das Buch erschien 2013 erneut als Re-Print und ist in englischer Sprache gefasst. Aus der Publikation stammen die wenigen Fotos aus Fürth, die den Einmarsch der US-Streitkräfte in Fürth zeigen.
Klappentext: This history of the Rainbow is a record of the accomplishments of every man who served in the Division. It is the story of his contribution to the safety and security of the people of his country and of the world. It is a history made possible not by individual achievement, but by the combined effort of all. It is natural in such a history as this that the action of the front line soldier is emphasized. While he deserves every bit of credit that it is possible to give him, he realizes that he was able to fight and win only because he was a member of a great fighting team in which thousands of men united to defeat the enemy. This, then, is a history of the combat infantry, of the artillery, the reconnaissance troop, the medical and engineer battalions, the signal, ordnance and quartermaster companies and of the division headquarters personnel.
